Tea Ball
The Tea Ball is the most widely known method of brewing loose leaf tea. Tea balls are easy to carry, inexpensive, and will brew a cup of tea rather efficiently.
However, there are some downsides to a tea ball over other methods. A few things to consider when brewing tea, specially green tea, tea needs room to expand two to three times its dried size. The tea ball is acceptable for brewing black teas, and even then, only a cup or mug, but the tea ball is not the best when brewing large leaf green teas. The mesh of the tea ball is not fine. You may find sediment in your tea where smaller leaves, or spices have managed to get through.
This tea ball comes with assorted color and size tea cup fob.
Tea Strainer
This instrument is really meant for straining tea after it has been brewed. If you are brewing a pot of tea, throw the leaves loose into the pot and wait for the tea to fully brew. After tea is finished brewing place the strainer on top of the cup you are going to be drinking out of. Pour the tea from the pot into the cup through the strainer to catch any leaves that may come out of the spout.
The upside of this strainer is that you have the ability to make large quantities of tea easily. The tea strainer is easy to carry with you and it is relatively inexpensive. The downside is that the mesh may not be fine enough to catch the very small leaves that tend to be in herbal brews and so you may get sediment in you tea that can make the brew bitter. Also it is very easy to over brew your tea with this device because unless you are drinking the whole pot of tea at once the leaves stay in the pot which can give you a bitter tea.
